Don S.
I became a patient of Dr. Charles over five years ago, while he was practicing at Methodist Medical Group. I was looking for a great doctor who would take the time to communicate with me, and I found that Dr. Charles met those criteria. I did become frustrated in the last couple of years with the difficulty of scheduling appointments, to the point that I suggested that he start a concierge practice. I was glad to receive the announcement near the end of 2018 that Dr. Charles was starting a direct primary care practice, and I signed up at the beginning of 2019.
I’ve been completely satisfied with the experience. Access to Dr. Charles has been immediate, both from the standpoint of getting office visits and online. I’ve been blessed with good health, but I also have a year-old grandson in day care (a.k.a. the germ mill) so I had more than my share of respiratory infections last winter and spring. In May, I had a nagging cough that wouldn’t go away and I was preparing to leave for a three week overseas trip. Dr. Charles had been treating me and I followed up with him online on Memorial Day to say that the cough didn’t seem like it was going away and that I was going to be gone for three weeks. The cough would have been a big inconvenience on the trip, and it would have been even worse if other symptoms had developed. Dr. Charles asked several questions, evaluated my situation, and responded “Alright, here’s the plan”, followed by his treatment recommendations. It was great to have a specific plan, and the trip went off successfully. The success was due to the high service level provided as well as Dr. Charles knowing all the details of the string of URIs I’d had during the winter and spring.
So, because of the service level, the time he spends explaining situations and options, and the quality of care I get, I plan to continue to be a patient of Dr. Charles at Hometown Health as long as he’ll have me. I have medicare, and, in my case it’s probably more costly to get my health care through Hometown Health, but I have NO DOUBT that it’s worth any extra cost.
